Before It Had a Name

Night-time entrance of an industrial venue lit in red.

People always want that one perfect origin moment, right? Like we were standing at Verknipt Augsburg on March 29, 2025, the kick dropped and somebody said: “This is it. We’re starting Solanoxx.”

Yeah. That did not happen.

We did not arrive there as a team. It was just a new moon night, with concrete, bass and a few unexpected encounters and conversations that stayed longer than expected. Nobody was planning a project. Nobody was looking for a name. About a month later, on April 29, Solanoxx appeared in one of our conversations. No advertisment agency. No big brainstorming workshop. No big conversation. Just “Sola” like Sun, “Nox” like night. Solanoxx, with a double letter X for style and distinction.

At first, it was a name for the music, images and ideas we were making together. Then it became the name for everything around them too like the name of our messenger chatgroup about normal life, serious talks, complete nonsense and the random sentence that suddenly turns into a track.

Verknipt Augsburg was not some dramatic founding moment. It simply came before everything else. And at some point, Solanoxx stopped feeling like the name of a project. It became the name of what we have together.
